A primary goal of the National Research Center for Women & Families
is to provide accurate, understandable research-based information
to the media. As we collect and analyze scientific studies on the
safety of breast implants, we share our findings through press statements
and interviews. Statements and press updates are posted on our website
as they are released. In addition, we encourage members of the media
to sign up to receive our press releases via email and broadcast
fax by emailing us with your name, media affiliation and contact
information. The FDA's decision to approve silicone gel breast implants
in November 2006 means that it is more important than ever to provide
accurate information about the known risks and benefits of silicone
gel implants. Reporters will especially be interested to know the
sources of funding for various studies.
